The SIU Work-Study Dual Model combines classroom education with paid internship at industry partner locations. Students earn a monthly stipend from Year 1 and graduate with a UGC-recognised degree and 2+ years of professional work experience.
For a typical 4 year program, the student spends about 5 quarters at SIU Campus and about 11 quarters at Industry Partner Location. For a 3 year program, this changes to 4 quarters at SIU Campus and about 8 quarters at Industry Partner Location.
The SIU Work-Study Dual Model is an intense 46 weeks (8 hrs/day; 40 hrs/weeks) per year program that combines work and study as compared to a conventional 30 weeks/year academic program elsewhere.

The 4E Model
Four Phases of Learning
Sequenced journey from classroom readiness to industry-tested graduation.
Foundational study, induction and core coursework — bringing the student to the proficiency level the industry partner expects, before they step into the workplace.
The paid internship begins. The student works alongside professionals and builds real industry experience, month after month, across years.
Back to campus, full-time. Electives, minors and advanced modules broaden the academic foundation built earlier in the program.
A final phase of coursework that builds academic credentials on top of real industry experience — before the degree is awarded.
